Red Hook Grain Terminal (Brooklyn)

Falling victim to the unfortunate business practice of jumping into an industry just after the peak, the Red Hook Grain Terminal was a magnificent twelve story grain elevator with more than 50 silos capable of processing more grain that its neighbors.

But by the time it came on line in 1922, grain elevators were already being phased out. The facility operated with diminishing returns until it was finally added to the growing list of abandoned places in New York in 1965.
